My Glasgowbury: Jordan Magee (Sign Holder)
July 28, 2010 No CommentsSign holders are vital to any festival experience – Some of the favourites at this year’s Glasgowbury were “Yes, we put the brick on the accelerator” , “Do I make you Silhou -wet??” and “I like Turtles.” A more tasteful yet equally provocative approach came in the form of Jordan Magee’s rhetorical statement, “Who cares about Oxegen?” – Damn right. Here are his top three Glasgowbury moments:
HENRIETTA GAME (1.55-2.25 – EAGLE’S ROCK STAGE)
Dublin folk group Henrietta Game played a great set here. The involvement of the Glockenspiel helped soothe the Eagle’s Rock audience, and thirty minutes of angelic harmonies from Christy and Judy added a gentle touch to the weekend. Crowd favourite here was definitely ‘Berlin’.
AND SO I WATCH YOU FROM AFAR (4.00-4.30 – G SESSIONS STAGE)
One phrase comes to mind when reminiscing of this performance – ‘Stage presence’. The crowd loved the new track, and the classic ‘Set Guitars To Kill’ was a favourite of many. The mix of trebly Telecasters saturated with distortion, Johnny’s deep bass and Chris pounding on his drums behind rocked the G Sessions Stage. ASIWYFA always leave every venue thinking the same thing – who needs vocals?
FURLO (4.50-5.20 – G SESSIONS STAGE)
Limavady boys Furlo really played a blinder here. A packed out marquee, swarming with red Furlo t-shirts, enjoyed the simple but effective indie pop riffs. Personally I felt the vocals in the mix were too quiet but vocally, Jonny was excellent. Furlo finished up with ‘Logic Too Late’, and their departure from the stage was looked upon with sadness but also with content that Jonny, Stephen, Ruairi, Shaggy and Gavin had yet again not failed to impress.

... We're not sure what happened to Jordan. Reports suggest Oxegen headliner, Matt Bellamy, discovered him and he hasn't been seen since (C) Colm laverty 2010
